Pattern of two intersecting lines in the shape of a cross built into the eyepiece of a sighting device. The crosshair is the simplest form of a reticle used in optical aiming devices (sights). A sight is used to assist in visually aligning weapon or surveying instrument (like telescope or microscope) with the target.

Crosshair is most commonly associated with telescopic sights for firearms – undoubtedly under the influence of hunting sport, popular movies or vastly popular action games (like CS:GO).
